I was recently asked about which Republican candidates tax plan I prefer, Herman Cain's 9-9-9, or Rick Perry's 20% flat tax. My first reaction was to go for Cain's plan, but I decided to do some research anyway. I'm glad I did.
I'm not a professional politician. I'm a professional problem solver, and I believe we should cut the salaries of senators and congressmen 10 percent until they balance the budget. I call that conservative common sense.
Herman Cain
Anyone, on either side of the center, should agree with this statement. We have let these sons-of-bitches vote for their own pay raises for way too long. Its time we put a stop to that.
The way to connect with voters on the plan is to simply give the facts. Fifty per cent of taxpayers pay 97 per cent of the taxes. By most people's standards, that's already fair. The President is playing the class warfare card because he knows that a lot of people may never hear that particular fact. But it's a fact.
Herman Cain
I have been saying this since Zero started with the "fair share" crap. Fair share indicates everyone has a share. Fifty percent of Americans pay NO income taxes. That must stop.
The biggest - one of the biggest barriers to driving economic growth is the capital gains tax rate. I propose taking it to zero.
Herman Cain
A zero capitol gains tax would really boost the economy. In just my chosen line of work, housebuilding, a reduction to zero in capital gains would totally revive the housing industry. My bias aside, America loves new houses.
If I had been under ObamaCare, and a beaurocrat had been trying to tell me when I could get that CT scan, that would have delayed my treatment. I was able to get the treatment as fast as I could based upon my timetable, and not the government's timetable. That's what saved my life.
Herman Cain
Another no-brainer. Herman Cain would be dead under Barak Obama's "healthcare" plan. So, by the way, would Mr. Lindquist.
It's time to get real, folks. Hope and change ain't working. Hope and change is not a solution. Hope and change is not a job.
Herman Cain
Duh.
Let me tell you what the Cain Doctrine would be, as it relates to Israel if I were president. You mess with Israel, you are messing with the United States of America!
Herman Cain
Prime Minister Benjamin Netyanahu made it real clear. They're willing to be generous on some other concessions but not on the border issue. And I don't blame him.
Herman Cain
Israel is our only friend in the Middle East. To not back them is criminal, and should be grounds for impeachment. To allow criminals to dictate the terms of their own parole is stupid, but that is how the left treats the Palestinians. And the illegal immigrants from the south.
People who oppose Obama are said to be racists - so I guess I'm a racist.
Herman Cain
The only tactic liberals have is to try to intimidate people into thinking that the Tea Party is racist. The Tea Party is not a racist movement, period! If it were, why would the straw polls keep showing that the black guy is winning? That's a rhetorical question. Let me state it: The black guy keeps winning.
Herman Cain
They call me racist too just because I disagree with a President who happens to be black. You are not racists - you are patriots.
Herman Cain
Racists? Really? Racism is exactly the same as the separation of Church and State. The state cannot force anyone to be or not be religious. The state also cannot pass laws restricting people based on their race. Back of the bus laws and whites only laws are racist. A private citizen or group not allowing people into their group based on race are "bigots." You lefties go out and learn the difference.
Stupid people are ruining America.
Herman Cain
That says RUINING. You could substitute RUNNING.
The one thing that the President can do is to establish a real energy independence plan. We have all the recources we need right here in this country to establish energy independence if we had the leadership.
Herman Cain
God, I hope we get the leadership, and soon.

Tenth,
ReplyDeleteI like Herman Cain. I am not a fan of the 9-9-9 plan, but I like Herman Cain. With that said, 9-9-9 would be infinitely better than our current system.
The definition of "fair" appears to depend on which side of the political spectrum you are on. "Fair" is defined in Herman Cain's world to mean "equal, just, honest, equitable" that blows the mind of liberals (democrats, progressives, socialists, whatever) who use "fair" to mean "I get your stuff."
There's a good piece here about Cain by one of my favorite opinion writers:
http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2011/oct/28/pruden-the-awful-sin-of-herman-cain/
It says in part:
"The toxic reaction to Herman Cain’s hearty welcome to Republican and conservative ranks, his spectacular rise in the polling of Republican voters, is a grim preview of what lies ahead. The liberals (“progressives,” as they call themselves this year) are not actually frightened by the prospect of President Cain; they recognize, given the givens, the high improbability of that happening. What irks, galls, frustrates and infuriates the East Coast libsnobs is that the Republican embrace of the pizza man destroys the story line they want to reprise from 2008, that only bigots oppose President Obama."
Good luck in Iowa and New Hampshire Mr. Cain.
Tenth writes, Fifty percent of Americans pay NO income taxes. That must stop.
ReplyDeleteTwo questions:
1. WHY do 50% of Americans pay no income tax?
2. How much $$$ would a tax on these 50% generate for the Treasury?
Mud- There are many reasons people pay no taxes.
ReplyDelete1- They are children, or stay-at-home Mom's
2- I'm not sure, but I don't think the illegal immigrants have payroll taxes taken out.
3- They can afford a team of accountants.
4- Welfare is not considered income.
As for your second question, I'm not sure. It would probably be more than $0.
TGP- If you steal subjects from my posts again, I will sue you for copyright infringement.LOLOLOLOLOLOL.
Johnny,
ReplyDeleteDon't expect to get much in the way of a settlement. I assume you're talking about Mr. Lindquist?
Mud,
ReplyDeleteFifty percent of Americans pay no income tax because we have a screwed up tax code. The amount of money raised is not the important issue. Getting people personally involved in their self-governance is priceless.
Tenth,
ReplyDeleteYou are of course correct on all counts. People who don't have a financial stake in government don't concern themselves with how that money is spent.
Think of the even worse prospect, that there are a number of people who view April 15th as payday.
I am on board with Cain's plan if we DUMP the IRS and the income tax. The progressive tax is a screw job on those who do well and rewards the lazy and stupid.
ReplyDeleteThis way, EVERYONE pays something.
Gunny,
ReplyDeleteI would rather have the fair tax, but Cain's will be a huge improvement on what we have now.
I hate to throw in some FACTS, gentlemen, but it is not the lazy and stupid ANTILIBERAL ZONE who are not paying taxes, although that fits his delusion quite well.
ReplyDeleteOf the 38 million tax units made nontaxable by the addition of tax expenditures, 44 percent are moved off the tax rolls by elderly tax benefits and another 30 percent by credits for children and the working poor.
Lazy and stupid???
Mud,
ReplyDeleteAbout 46 percent of American households will pay no federal individual income tax in 2011,
roughly half of them because of structural features of the income tax that provide basic
exemptions for subsistence level income and for dependents. The other half are nontaxable
because tax expenditures— special provisions of the tax code that benefit selected taxpayers or
activities—wipe out tax liabilities and, in the case of refundable credits, result in net payments
from the government. Most important of those tax expenditures are provisions that benefit senior
citizens and low-income working families with children. While those factors particularly affect
lower-income households, different provisions eliminate taxes for other households. Itemized
deductions and credits for children and education are more important for middle-income
households, while the relatively few high-income nontaxable households benefit most from
above-the-line and itemized deductions and reduced tax rates on capital gains and dividends.
Apparently, our tax code is a very complex beast. We should definitely slay that dragon.
We should definitely slay that dragon.
ReplyDeleteAnd, after it is slain, then what? Surely not a flat or fair tax!
Yes, Mud. Either one.
ReplyDeleteMuddy will be the first to cry about people "paying their fair share" until it suddenly includes everyone paying fairly.
ReplyDeleteIt's odd liberals are so into everything being "fair and equal" but, are always the first ones to reject true fairness and equal treatment for all.
