Our National Embarrassment

   debt_clock_021411.jpg

Everyone I know out of work has years of experience, and education if you consider learning a trade educating one's self.  The regulatory environment should be keeping illegals from stealing work from citizens, instead of requiring citizens to carry burdensome insurance and obey crazy OSHA rules.  Regulation forces employers to break laws.  Its stupid and needs to be stopped.

Here's a good idea:  It is against the law to hire an illegal alien.  What is the minimum punishment for breaking this law?  A fine?  Or time?  I recommend both.  Enforcing this "regulation" would cut unemployment in half.  It would also have an indirect benefit of self-deportation of illegal aliens.

Another thing that would greatly help would be the re-thinking of jurisdiction.  Right now we have too many law enforcement saying "It isn't my job."  That is pure BS.  If you are a county deputy, you have the jurisdiction to enforce any law on the books, local to federal.  If you witness a kidnapping, you are compelled to act.  If you witness a jaywalker, you are compelled to act.  It is my opinion that if an FBI agent witnesses a jaywalker, he has no jurisdiction.  A Federal officer can't enforce local laws, but a local officer should be required to enforce Federal laws.  Under my interpretation, Arizona is absolutely correct, and Holder is violating the law.  I would recommend that if Holder sets foot in Arizona, Joe Arpaio should put him in pink underwear.

But I digress.  I originally intended this post to cover the horrific state of our Federal budget.  Today, the TEA Party compared national debt to household budgets.  I'm not sure why we needed someone to do this, I would have thought our representatives would have understood this since about fourth grade.  But the TEA Party has come out with this comparison, and now everyone should be able to see, we are fucking broke.

Our Federal Government has been spending like a sailor on shore leave for over 60 years.  Both parties are responsible for this, and both parties should have to pay for it.  I think time in Federal prison for any Congressman or Senator who doesn't resign immediately would be a good start.

In the early 1930's, Franklin Delano Roosevelt, The Great Socialist, developed a plan for taking care of our senior citizens.  He called it Social Security.  It should be noted that prior to Roosevelt's intervention, the way a senior citizen lived out their golden years was by living with one or more of his or her children.  Sometimes  these children paid someone else to check in on their elderly parents; sometimes they hired someone to take care of them.  But mostly, kids did the responsible thing and moved Grammy and Grandpa in with them.  In some parts of the country, this is still a normal practice.  Since the interference of FDR, a whole new industry has evolved, called ripping off the old folks.  But again, I digress.

FDR's great social experiment required workers and bosses to put money into the government coffers, with the promise that if the worker just lived long enough, the government would give them a monthly stipend from "their money."  It was BS from the day it started.  Social Security has been the biggest boondoggle in U.S. history, and it has all been sanctioned by the people we chose to protect us.  Instead, they have screwed us all.

The government spent the money.  They mostly just blew it, but some of it they spent on educating our children, a great investment, right?  In 1930, American kids were the best educated in the world, today they can't find America on a map of America.  Thanks, Congress.  It would sure be nice if you'd stop helping.

The following comment shows just how bad the Feds screwed the citizens.  This comment makes no mention that at the time the ponzi scheme started, the payouts would start at age 63.  The average lifespan of the US citizen at the time was 59.  How could this plan fail?  A better question is how the hell were the American citizens get buffaloed into this stupid plan to start with?

This is another example of what Rick Perry called
"TREASON in high places" !!!
Remember, not only did you contribute to Social Security but your employer did too. It totaled 15% of your income before taxes. If you averaged only $30K over your working life, that's close to $220,500
If you calculate the future value of $4,500 per year (yours & your employer's contribution) at a simple 5% (less than what the govt. pays on the money that it borrows), after 49 years of working you'd have $892,919.98.
If you took out only 3% per year, you'd receive $26,787.60 per year and it would last better than 30 years (until you're 95 if you retire at age 65) and that's with no interest paid on that final amount on deposit! If you bought an annuity and it paid 4% per year, you'd have a lifetime income of $2,976.40 per month.
The folks in Washington have pulled off a bigger Ponzi scheme than Bernie Madhoff ever had.
Entitlement my a_ _, I paid cash for my social security insurance!!!! Just because they borrowed the money, doesn't make my benefits some kind of charity or handout!!
Congressional benefits ---- free healthcare, outrageous retirement packages, 67 paid holidays, three weeks paid vacation, unlimited paid sick days, now that's welfare, and they have the nerve to call my social security retirement entitlements?
We're "broke" and can't help our own Seniors, Veterans, Orphans, Homeless
In the last months we have provided aid to Haiti , Chile , and Turkey . And now Pakistan ......home of bin Laden. Literally, BILLIONS of DOLLARS!!!
Our retired seniors living on a 'fixed income' receive no aid nor do they get any breaks while our government and religious organizations pour Hundreds of Billions of $$$$$$'s and Tons of Food to Foreign Countries!
They call Social Security and Medicare an entitlement even though most of us have been paying for it all our working lives and now when it’s time for us to collect, the government is running out of money. Why did the government borrow from it in the first place? Imagine if the *GOVERNMENT* gave 'US' the same support they give to other countries.
Sad isn't it?

So, let's just agree that Social Security is a Ponzi scheme.  The government ripped us off.  But they have become addicted to the money, so we will have to hang a couple congresscritters to get it stopped.

Now the Congress has admitted they can't continue business as usual.  They have decide that they must cut spending, but they can't agree just how to do it.  So they have come up with a huge savings of .......

household_budget_graphic.jpg

                                  $385?

If you divide that by 12, that's $32 a month.  That sure is some savings.  Unfortunately, the credit card payment is still putting the bills way over the income, so no savings for Uncle Sam.  And no relief on our budget.  But surely our congressmen can see that.

Liberals want citizens to believe that cuts would cost us essential services.  That is complete crap.  Not cutting, and causing the government to fail, will cost us essential services.  The following comment explains this pretty well:

Give me a break.  The cuts being requested or even "demanded" are no where close to being that drastic.  If you want to go back to the family analogy...it is more like not buying a second 56" flat screen, or the $150 sneakers or eating out every night.  We are no where close to cutting back to the point of making decisions about food or heating etc.
Until this government makes a serious effort to curb back on unnecessary spending and on eliminating waste...they have absolutely no right to ask for more taxpayer dollars.
The government simply does not respect that money they are already taking.
nice try though...

If you go to your boss and ask him for a raise, and you explain to him, "I just can't make ends meet," and he asks you why you only work 30 hours a week, do you think you'll get the raise?  What if he asks you why you took off last Thursday, and you tell him you went to a concert, paid $100 for the ticket, $45 for beverages, and $30 for a T-Shirt.  Do you think he should pay you more money?  If you do, you are part of the problem.  Uncle Sam needs to live within his means for a while, before he asks us for a raise.

  1. Good post.

Our national embarassment is the fact that 52% of our fellow citizens voted for that moron.

Course correction coming up next year if we make it that long.

BTW, your North Carolina Governor just called for suspension of elections next year so they can continue screwing things up.

No shit you say... read this:

  2. Hardnox,

I'm going to talk to my state senator and rep and recommend they start impeachment proceedings based on competency. She's obviously lost her mind.

  3. Tenth,
I'll bet that she is testing the water on this issue.

The libs are going to have their collectives asses handed to them next year and they can't stand the thought of losing their majority.

  6. Gentlemen,

We have a slightly different problem - only 63% of American voters got up off their asses in 2008 and went to vote. So Barack Obama got 52% of less than 2/3 of the possible votes.

What I hope all this TEA movement activity means is that some of those people have woke the hell up.
